COMMUNITY OUTREACH

We are called to share and serve others.

As our relationship with God grows, we are called to look beyond ourselves and toward others. Faith is not meant to be lived in isolation—it draws us into community, encourages us to step outside our comfort zones, and challenges us to share, serve, and care for those around us.

God calls us to move from being self-centered to being God-centered. And when we center our lives on Him, our hearts naturally become more concerned with the needs of others and with all of God’s people.

Getting involved can change lives—not only the lives of those we serve, but our own lives as well!

The depth of God’s love invites us
to care for God’s creation.

Our Climate Commitment to Net-Zero Emissions

At Desert Skies, we believe caring for God’s creation is part of our calling as people of faith. Scripture reminds us that God placed us in creation to “work it and take care of it” (Genesis 2:15). Caring for the earth and its resources is an important expression of our responsibility to one another, to future generations, and to all of God’s creation.

The United Methodist Church has long recognized the responsibility we share to respond to the growing challenges of climate change. Guided by our faith, informed by science, and mindful of communities most affected by environmental challenges, we are called to respond with compassion, humility, and action.

Our Wesleyan tradition reminds us of the sacredness of creation and our responsibility to care for the world God has entrusted to us. As United Methodists, we seek to preach, teach, advocate, and live out practices that promote the health and flourishing of God’s creation.

We recognize that addressing climate change is a global effort that requires cooperation, thoughtful stewardship, and a commitment to justice. We seek to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while supporting a transition toward a more sustainable future—one that values people, communities, and the natural world.

Our Commitment

We support the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 across ministries, facilities, operations, and investments. We are committed to exploring practical ways our church community can reduce its environmental impact, conserve resources, and make choices that reflect our call to stewardship.

We also recognize that environmental challenges can affect communities differently. Our commitment to creation care includes seeking greater equity, supporting healthy and resilient communities, and recognizing the connections between environmental stewardship, justice, and the well-being of our neighbors.

In a time of significant change and uncertainty, we trust in the creativity, guidance, and healing work of the Holy Spirit. We believe caring for creation is part of living out our faith—and we invite our entire church family to join us in this life-giving work.

Caring for God’s creation. Loving our neighbors. Building a healthier future together.

Action Alert: Tell the Senate to Support the Call for U.S. Compliance with International Law in Israel and Palestine

The United Methodist Church has a longstanding commitment to peace, justice, human rights, and the protection of civilians. In response to the ongoing violence in Israel and Palestine, United Methodists are calling for an end to violence, increased humanitarian assistance, respect for international law, and the release of all hostages.

Church and Society continues to advocate for peaceful and lasting solutions that address the root causes of conflict rather than approaches that contribute to further violence.

As people of faith, we are called to pray, speak out for peace, and work toward a world where all people can live with dignity, safety, and freedom.
